With a work printer does having a 3ccd camera matter?

[Vespasian]

If you use a workprinter will it look better if you transfer it to the computer with a 3 chip video camera? Can you just use a $300 sony digital 8 camera with all manual control. How much better will it look if you use a 3 ccd camera? Will it look better at all. Thank you for any info in advance, i did a search but it didn't give me any crystal cleat answers.

Thequestion is,"Does a $3000 three chip camera look better than a $500 single chip camera?" Well, of course it does or they would not be able to sell them. That spawns the REAL question,"Does the three chip camera look 6 times better since it costs 6 times more?"

Not always in this application. Jukka (who posts on this forum) uses a single chip camera with his WorkPrinter, I believe, and his transfers look stunning. The other issue is that the WorkPrinter uses an aeriel image, which isn't necessarily hard to line up but does take time and patience. Because three chip cameras cost so much more, people are shy of locking one down permanently for transfers and, as a result, will often disrupt critical alignment by removing the camera to shoot family events, weddings, etc.

If I had to choose between a single chip camera that was aligned perfectly and a 3 chip camera that was quickly and imperfectly aligned over and over, I'd take the single chip camera any day of the week. Poor alignment will far outweigh any advantages gained by using a three chip camera.

Hope this helps!
